How do I request a translation?

You can send us an email explaining what you need and, whenever possible, attach the documentation you need to translate so that we can evaluate the work or, if you prefer, you can call us by phone and comment on it personally.

The more information you give us, the better we will be able to organize and carry out our work: to whom the text is directed, aspects that we must take into account, time available for translation, if there is a specialized glossary ...

What languages do you translate?

We translate to and from Spanish, English. If you need translations into other languages, contact us, in the event that we cannot help you, we will try to put you in contact with other quality professionals who can assist you in your project.

How is the cost calculated, will I be able to know the price before deciding to order the work?

Of course. Although there are several systems to calculate the cost of a translation, the most widely used, and the one we use, is to apply a rate per word. If you know our rates and the number of words in your text, you can get an idea of what the cost of the translation will be, but this estimate will not always be reliable, because there are circumstances that can make the project more expensive (original document that is not in digitally modifiable format, complex graphics to be reproduced, highly complex text, urgency, etc.) and others that can reduce it (document that is part of a large project for which a previous terminological work has already been carried out, the client provides us with parallel documentation that can facilitate our work, we have a delivery period that allows us to organize our resources more comfortably.)

In what format should I send the text that I need to translate?

Ideally, send it in an editable format. PDF documents are not always convertible, and in those cases it is impossible to respect the format of the original document. Always try to find out if you can get the document in editable format before ordering it for translation. In the event that you do not have access to the original document, we will work with the document in the available format and reach an agreement on the delivery method.

How long do you need to do a translation?

This is probably one of the most frequently asked questions, but the answer is different in each case. It will depend on the language combination you request, the complexity of the text, its length, whether the client can provide us with relevant information or supporting documentation, etc. The best thing is that, when you order the translation, you let us know when you need it. We will do everything possible to adapt to your deadlines and, if it is not possible to meet the deadline you indicate, we will let you know you at that time.

Who will be in charge of the translation, will it be a native translator?

Yes of course. The translator in charge of your translation will not only translate into your mother tongue but will also be a qualified and experienced translator and, if the subject requires it, with the necessary certification and specialization. In the world of professional translation, translators only translate into their mother tongue. But being a native speaker is not a guarantee of success either, because translation is a profession and requires learning techniques, a great culture, a good reading and writing ability. That is why at CLACE all our translators, in addition to being native speakers, are qualified and experienced, great professionals who have been with us for many years and deserve our trust and that of our clients.

If I have to translate a report every year that has variations, but whose base text is the same, will I always have to pay for it as the first time?

No. We keep the translations made in our database, unless the client has specifically asked us to destroy them, and with them we create a translation memory for each client or for each large project, which allows us to take advantage of the work done and, if the client has given us their feedback and approved the terminology used, the second time the work will be done faster and better, and we will reflect that in the cost.

Can I do something to facilitate the translator's work and make the result more satisfactory?

Of course, yes. There are several things you can do that greatly facilitate our work and contribute to a higher quality translation.

  • When you are preparing your documentation, do not forget that the translation work also takes time, that translating is not just putting the words in another language; is to capture the meaning, the intention, the tone. Think how long it has taken you to elaborate your text, choose the right words ... and you will realize that the translator also needs time to think and choose the words that best suit the intention you want to convey. Don't rush the deadlines and have us translate against the clock, because this will be reflected in the quality of the final text.

  • Give us information about your text: who is it directed to, what do you intend with it, what is important to highlight, what concepts are fundamental, if there are any concepts that you want to be translated in a specific way ...

  • If you have parallel texts or similar topics in the language you have asked us to translate into, do not hesitate to make them available to us. We do all the research work when necessary, but if you can provide that information yourself, we can work faster and with greater precision.

  • Be available to receive our inquiries. During the translation process, sometimes we have doubts about the meaning of a phrase or a specific term, and nothing better than asking the author of the text, when possible. For the quality of the translation, it is essential that there is a communication channel between the client and the translator.

  • And finally, give us your feedback, please. It is essential for us, so that the next job we do better. If you make changes to our texts, modify concepts, because you are more used to calling them something else, etc., be sure to let us know so that we can take it into account in future texts. If possible, do not correct the texts without commenting on it with us. We do not doubt your competence, but if you have decided to entrust the translation work to professionals, do it until the end. And, last but not least ... if you have been happy with our work, please tell us too! We assume that the translator's work is carried out in the shadows, but we are very encouraged when they tell us that our work has had something to do with one of their successes.
